Budget Hearing/Special Meeting

Present for Roll Call:
Bausano, Bonenfant, Harrell, Zei and Zubiena (5:42PM).
Absent: Lanctot and
Lutz.
Guests: Edward M.
Vertin.
The Budget Hearing
was called to order in the Village Council Chambers by President Bonenfant at
5:30PM.
There were no guests
in the audience. The Budget Hearing
closed at 5:45PM.
Present for Roll Call:
Bausano, Bonenfant, Harrell, Zei and Zubiena.
Absent: Lanctot and
Lutz.
The Special Meeting
was called to order in the Village Council Chambers by President Bonenfant at
5:45PM.
A motion was made by
Zei and seconded by Harrell to amend
the 2002-03 budget. Carried 5-0. A motion was made by Zei and seconded by
Zubiena to approve the 2003-04 budget. Carried 5-0.
A motion was made by
Zubiena and seconded by Harrell to transfer the liquor license from Shawn’s Restaurant to First National Bank of
Calumet-Lake Linden. Carried 5-0.
A motion was made by
Zubiena and seconded by Zei to appoint Daniel Mukavetz to the Laurium Housing Commission to fill the
vacancy. Carried 5-0.
At 5:49PM, a motion
was made by Zubiena and seconded by Bausano to enter into executive session to
discuss DPW Union negotiations for health coverage. Carried 5-0.
The regular meeting
returned to session at 5:54PM.

Absent: Lanctot and
Lutz.
A motion was made by
Zubiena and seconded by Zei to approve the DPW health coverage as
proposed. The insurance carrier will be
MEBS Option #1 with BC/BS dental and vision.
The drug card will be 10/40. The Village will reimburse the employee all
but $5.00 per prescription. The
employees assume premium contributions where the cost of the plan exceeds half
of the rate difference between the 2002 rates and the 2003 rates (i.e. the
Village pays half of the increase and the employee pays anything over that
amount). The employees are willing to
accept a 50% share of any increase that occurs on 7/01/03, when the MEBS rates
increase. Carried 5-0.
The meeting adjourned
at 5:56PM.
