The Public
Hearing/Special Meeting was called to order by President Bausano at 5:30PM.
The purpose of this
Public Hearing/Special Meeting was to discuss the grant/loan from Rural
Development to purchase a fire truck and police vehicle and take action on the
purchase of such items.
President Bausano
opened the floor to public comment
and none was received.
Two bids on a new fire pumper were reviewed. The bid from Oshkosh Fire and Police
Equipment was for $237,883.00 and a bid from Pierce Manufacturing, Inc. was for
$227,495.00. A motion was made by
Rastello and seconded by Koskiniemi to accept the bid for a new fire pumper
from Pierce Manufacturing, Inc. for $227,495.00. $227,000.00 would be covered in the
grant/loan and $495.00 would need to come from Village of Laurium funds. Carried 6-0.
Only Parkway
Chevrolet submitted bids for police
vehicles. Trade-in of the old Tahoe
is factored into all prices. The bid for
a Chevrolet Tahoe was $29,759.93 with a 5-year warranty and $25,504.93 without
the warranty. The bid for a Chevrolet
Impala was $19,250.55 with a 5-year warranty and $14,995.55 without the
warranty. A great deal of discussion was
held over which option should be chosen.
A motion was made by Lanctot and seconded by Turner to table the matter
of which police vehicle to purchase until the regular council meeting next
Tuesday, October 19, 2004. At this time,
answers will be available for questions that came up in the discussion. Carried 6-0.
At 6:40PM, a motion
was made by Junot and seconded by Lanctot to adjourn.
Respectfully
submitted,
