Village of Laurium

Special Council Meeting

Thursday, September 9, 2004

Present for Roll Call: Bausano, Junot, Koskiniemi, Lanctot, Rastello and Turner.

Guests: Paul Baroni, Sean Jacques, James Lemler, Edward M. Vertin, Roger Wetelainen, David Zei, and Daniel Zubiena.

The meeting was called to order in the Village Council Chambers by President Bausano at 5:30PM.

The purpose of this special meeting was to discuss the Rural Development grant/loan for the fire truck and police vehicle.  The fire department did not receive a FEMA grant so the new fire truck will be obtained with funding through Rural Development.

The fire department is ready to solicit bids for a new fire truck to replace the 1976 pumper.  An ad for bids will be placed in the paper next week.  Bids will be opened on October 8, 2004.  Delivery is not expected for 6-8 months.

To keep the same time frame as the fire department, bids will also be solicited for a new police vehicle to replace the 2001 Police Tahoe.  Bids for a police car plus trade-in for the 2001 Tahoe and bids for a Tahoe plus trade-in for the 2001 Tahoe will be advertised.

A special meeting will be held on October 12, 2004 to review all bids and vote to accept a bid for a fire truck and police vehicle.

At 6:08PM, a motion was made by Rastello and seconded by Lanctot to adjourn.

Respectfully submitted,

Patricia M. Golus, Clerk
