Village of Laurium
Special Council Meeting
Thursday, November 1, 2001
Present for Roll Call: Bausano, Bonenfant, Harrell, Johnson, Lutz, Twardzik and Zei.
Guests: Gerald Juntunen, John Landreville, James Lemler, Joel Tuoriniemi, and Edward Vertin.
The meeting was called to order in the Village Council Chambers by President Bonenfant at 5:15PM.
The purpose of this special meeting was to discuss the property at 107 Hecla Street, The Neighborhood Bar, regarding Ordinance #142 Condemnation of Structures.
At the regular council meeting on August 15, 2001, the council granted Mr. Vertin 30 days to abate the nuisance at 107 Hecla Street. A letter from Houghton County Building Inspector Jerry Juntunen, dated October 22, 2001, stated that the building was still not in compliance with Ordinance #142.
The Village of Laurium Council has requested that Mr. Vertin close The Neighborhood Bar until all repairs have been made and it is in compliance with Ordinance #142. Mr. Vertin agreed to close the business on November 5, 2001 and work will begin to fix the problems. It will not reopen until it meets the requirements of Ordinance #142 Condemnation of Structures.
The meeting adjourned at 5:18PM.
Respectfully submitted,
Patricia M. Golus, Clerk
Village of Laurium
