Trash

  • Garbage service is provided to all village residents.

Check the web site or newspaper for any changes due to a Holiday falling on your pick-up day.

Garbage is limited to two cans and a reasonable number of bags each week.

    1) Effective Immediately - All garbage bags must be placed into garbage cans and the cans must be placed within a reasonable distance to the curb. A reasonable distance as determined by the Village Manager is to be within 8-10 feet of the curb or closer. If it is not within this distance, garbage will not be picked up per Village Ordinance 2024-01: Garbage Collection and Disposition.

    2) Garbage cans must be placed outside for collection purposes either the night before the collection date or by 6:00AM on the collection date. This is to ensure that your garbage is collected and not missed.

    3) Beginning September 1, 2025, the quarterly rate will increase from $54.00 to $60.00 as set forth by the Laurium Village Council. With this rate increase, all Village households will be provided one (1) 95-gallon garbage can if the household does not already have one of the Village’s newer style of cans. If you have already purchased this style of can from the village in the last few years, then you will be entitled one free replacement can within a 3 year period. Additional cans may be purchased for $85.00 per can at the Village Hall (if needed).

    4) The only garbage that will be collected beginning September 1, 2025 will be the garbage that is placed into either the village provided cans or the previously purchased village 95-gallon cans. Special arrangements may be made with the Village Office.

The village will begin tracking and handing out the 95-gallon cans over the next few months to village households and businesses.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Laurium Village Hall. Thank you.
